Our Curriculum

American Dental Academy provides an integrated course schedule of learning through exploration, scrutiny, and self-reflection. In every class, our teachers emphasize the strategies and processes involved in learning and self-growth, creating a unique opportunity to prepare our students to live thoughtful, creative, and successful lives in a rapidly changing society. Dental Assisting Program

Enroll in this hands-on, innovative class and take part in a unique, challenging learning experience. Our qualified and skilled teachers serve as facilitators in the course, guiding students through academic exploration and individual learning. The Dental Assisting (DA) program by American Dental Academy ensures our students are ready to enter the work environment as they will be able to acquire the essential skills necessary for assisting the dentist.

Coronal Polishing 

This course is a required by the California Dental Board for dental assistants who are interested in becoming an RDA and/ or perform coronal polishing on patients in a dental office. This courses prepares students to differentiate different types of materials, stains and techniques to used in removing plaque and extrinsic stains from the crown of the teeth. This course includes theory and clinical application. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certificate which is necessary requirement for RDA licensure or if you are RDA, you may perform this procedure.

Pit & Fissure Sealant

This course is a required by the California Dental Board for dental assistants who are interested in becoming an RDA and/ or perform sealants on patients in a dental office. This courses prepares students to learn application, preparation, dental anatomy, moisture control, and bite articulation. This course includes theory and clinical application. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certificate which is necessary requirement for RDA licensure or if you are RDA, you may perform this procedure.

Dental Radiation Safety and Licensure

The Radiation Safety course is required by California Law to operate dental radiography if the Dental Assistant has complied with the requirements of Section 1656. This offers students to learn all of the oral and dental radiology related to Dental Anatomy, Dental Radiology, physics of radiation/biology, radiation protection and safety, Dental x-ray unit, films, techniques, also radiography procedures, examination and exposure, radiographic critiques, mounting, as well as infection control. This course includes three parts which are theory, laboratory, and clinical. This course will also include introduction to digital radiography. Graduates receive a certificate authorizing them to take radiographs in the field of dentistry.

Infection Control

Regardless of whether you are a licensed or unlicensed Dental Assistant, this is a mandatory course required by the California Dental Board. The courses ensures students are informed with the policies and procedures used to prevent transmission of microorganisms from infected patients to patients. An overview of how infections spread and more detailed recommendations towards dental delivery situations are discussed.

CPR

Led by our knowledgeable instructor under the American Heart Association, our in-person and virtual courses combine online lecture with hands-on skills sessions. Great combination for those who learn best in a traditional classroom setting or those who need to go by self-pace, which allows our students to become comfortable with the latest techniques. Practicing CPR in the dental environment where you may have to perform it will go a long way towards ensuring your patient has the best chance of survival. The course is intended for Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, Dental Students, Dental Hygiene Students, and Dental Assistant Students.
